It's been awhile since my last update and for that I apologize. To be completely honest the site really didn't take off the way I wanted it to and I've been trying to figure out which direction I wanted to take it. That being said I want to let you know the reason I decided to update today. The other day I was talking to a friend telling him about some free samples of cereal I received in the mail and he said, “you need to do a website called Eat For Free and tell people how to get free food.” I thought about it and I already had a similar website/blog and that was King Of Clearance. So I decided to combine the two into one site. So I registered the domain www.Eat-For-Free.com at Go Daddy and created a new Blogger Label for “Eat For Free.” Now that domain redirects to every post on this site that contains that label. So if you came here from www.Eat-For-Free.com I want to take this time to welcome you. Hopefully you will find a lot more here that will help you save money as I transition this website from a “look what I got” website to a “money saving” website.
Now for the good stuff…
As I mentioned, I registered the new domain through GoDaddy.com while looking around I found a few “hacks” that will help you save some money when using GoDaddy.
The $6.99 .com hack – The regular price that GoDaddy charges for a .com domain is $10.69, but if you google the term “GoDaddy Coupon” (without quotes) the very first link you get is “$6.99 Domain Names Save.” Just click that link and you will save 30% off you .com registration.
The $8.77 .me hack – The new hot tld extension is .me, but the price is double what it costs for a .com. As of this writing GoDaddy is running a sale to making a .me domain registration $9.99, but the regular price is $19.99! I found a hack that will allow you to get these gems for $8.77. Here’s the process:
1) Add the .me domain of your choice to the shopping cart.
2) Once you get to the screen that says “Secure Checkout” click on the orange shopping cart button in the upper right.
3) In the window that pops out click the link that says “let out Product Advisor show you more ways to SAVE!”
4) On the first page of the Product Advisor check the box “I don’t want a domain or I already have one” and then click continue.
5) On the next screen click the box that says “No, I do not want a Web Site” and click continue.
6) On the third screen check the box that says “I want an easy way to manage all my customer information” and click continue
7) At this point Go Daddy will recommend the Contact Manager which is $3.99/month and a minimum purchase of 2 months making the total $7.98. Click “Proceed To Checkout”
8) You will be back at your shopping cart and you will notice that the price of your domain has decreased to $1.99 because GoDaddy runs a promotion where you can get your domain for $.199 if you by any non-domain related service. The total in your cart should be $9.97.
9) Finally in the box that says “Enter your promo or source code” enter the term “DOWNFORCE” without quotes. This will take 15% off your Contact Manager making the total price of the package $8.77! Congratulations, you just save $10.32 off the regular price of a .me registration.
Now I recommend going in immediately and canceling the Contact Manger because you don’t need it, you only added it to get the discount on the domain.
That’s enough hacking for me today. Enjoy saving money on domain registrations.
