Pinpointing My Spending Problem

Lately I've been trying to cut back on my finances and I've been thinking about it a lot. It seems funny, but the more I think about saving money, the more I tend to spend. Why is that? Well I've been trying to figure it out and I broke it down into a 2 categories:

1) Laziness - I can't think of another word for it. I can fix me a lunch the night before and take it to work with me the next day. That would save me from going out and buying lunch. Why don't I? I can't think of another reason except that I'm being lazy.

2) Impulse buying - I've been doing this a lot lately. It not because I just like to go out and spend, it's that the price is too good to pass up. Last month outdoor storage bins were on clearance at Target, but they were only 30% off. I decided to wait until they were 50% to buy. I could use one, but I don't really "need" one. Anyway, I waited and they never dropped to 50% off, they sold out before I got one. No big loss, but they dropped some other stuff I needed to 50% (see previous post) and I bought all kinds of it. None of this was stuff that I needed, but I bought it because the price was too good to pass up.

Now that I know where the problem lies, I need to working on fixing it. First step is to start preparing lunches to take with me. The second will be hard. Sometimes too good to pass up is just that. I guess the main thing is to stay away from Target.
